It’s officially the Meta Quest 2 now, but we feel like no one is calling it that. Including Walmart.

As far as Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts were concerned, it was pretty slim pickings when it came to the Oculus Quest 2. The best we saw was a free gift card with purchase, but no actual drops in price. While the 128GB model stubbornly remains at $299, if you’re committed to getting your hands on one of these state-of-the-art VR headsets at a more affordable price, Walmart has a stock of refurbished 64GB models available now for $100 less. While that’s obviously a significant reduction in storage, the refurbished model does offer the same cutting-edge performance and battery life as the pricier version.

While these headsets are marked refurbished, there’s no indication you lose anything by buying this way. The Walmart page has the same one-year warranty from the day of purchase like a nonrefurbished headset, and all of the same things are included in the box.
The only real warning here is there’s a good reason this model was discontinued. Having 64GB of nonexpandable storage is not a lot these days. You’re likely to get three to four of the best Quest 2 games installed before you’ve run out of space and will need to delete one to install something new. While that’s fine for casual gamers and those more interested in auxiliary functions like virtual meetings or workouts, those who are serious about VR gaming might want to consider upgrading to the 128GB, or even 256GB model. (Note that if you have a gaming PC you can run games to the Quest 2 from that, you just need a special link cable.)
On the other hand, this is a great way to give someone a Quest 2 as a gift and save some cash, especially if it’s someone who isn’t super concerned about how much storage they have. You can read Scott Stein’s full Quest 2 review for more, and watch his video review below.
