A new Wonder Woman movie is on the way. There was already a lot of talk about the first Wonder Woman movie from 2017. Gal Gadot convinced and thrilled in her role and her performance made her a star overnight.
The actress, who was named Miss Israel in 2004, was ranked among the 100 most influential people in the world by the US magazine Time. Along with Chris Pine, she was responsible for Wonder Woman making it into the top 10 highest-grossing films in 2017, which was the equivalent of about 729 million euros ($821 million) worldwide. It’s been a while since 2017, and now fans are eagerly awaiting the next film, which will soon be in the starting blocks. This one has already been announced and will be called Wonder Woman 1984. Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) will be back and Kristen Wiig (Barbara Ann Minerva / Cheetah) and Robin Wright (Antiope) will shine in supporting roles alongside Connie Nielsen (Hippolyta) and Kelvin Yu (Jake). Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Narcos) is also part of the team of great actors. After Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Wonder Woman and Justice League (2017), this is the fourth feature film of its kind to feature the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. However, this is only the second full-length feature film to revolve entirely around her.
More details on the film
Wonder Woman 1984 is set to debut in June 2020 and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will be directed by Patty Jenkins. Filming for the movie was already completed December 2018 and finished in a period of about 6 months. Actually, the film was supposed to be released in November this year, but the first release was postponed by the creators. So, in the sequel, the actors find themselves in the 1980s, almost 70 years after the events of the first film, which takes place in the First World War. According to the plot, Diana Prince – Wonder Woman’s secret identity – comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Cheetah appears and represents a dangerous opponent for her. According to an image released by the franchise, it looks quite like Chris Pine is back and still alive! Even though it may seem strange, we must not forget that this is a comic book adaptation and in the universe of superheroes surprises always happen. In the picture, Chris Pine appears in clothes that by all appearances would fit well in the 80s and is standing in the middle of a shopping mall. Not much more can be concluded from it. So has he come back?
The fan cult for Wonder Woman 2 should be enormous again, as it was for the first film. And if successful, we can certainly look forward to a third part. There are now an impressive number of Wonder Woman figurines and mugs to go with the merchandise of DC comic book heroes like Batman and Superman. Of course, there are cosplay costumes and enough red T-shirts with Wonder Woman’s logo printed on them. There could also be a video game coming out soon, which many are already eagerly awaiting. A few games already exist that feature Wonder Woman, including Injustice 2, which was released in May 2017 and came out for PlayStation 4, Android, Xbox One, iOS and Windows. It’s a fighting game in which two DC characters or characters from other franchises face off and fight each other at a time. A fierce power struggle between Wonder Woman and Cheetah can be witnessed in the Wonder Woman slot game. This 30 payline slot is connected to the DC Super Heroes jackpot, which is currently around €771,380 at William Hill. Cash prizes are also available in the bonus game when the wheel of fortune is spun – or 3 different free spins promotions can be won. From keychains to tops for summer, there’s no shortage of Wonder Woman merchandise, guaranteed, and we can’t get enough excited for the upcoming movie.
Wonder Woman 2 promises to be great and is sure to draw plenty of fans to theaters in 2020. As soon as a trailer is available, you’ll read about it here, of course.
